JOB POSTING: PART-TIME HEAD COACH
We are a small artistic swimming club located in beautiful Kelowna. We have multiple programs for varying levels of competition and recreation. Our program builds confidence and strength. Our coaches work to develop a sense of pride and accomplishment in each swimmer. We work hard to create a fun and friendly atmosphere where every swimmer is given opportunities and encouraged to succeed. The Dolphins are seeking a part-time head coach for the 2022-2023 season.
Requirements
• Competition certified
• Experience coaching artistic swimming athletes of various ages and different skill-levels
• Administrative experience with scheduling and organizing
• Must have a flexible schedule - weekends, evenings and holidays required
• Travel required
• Up-to-date First-Aid and CPR certifications
• Completed a vulnerable sector check
• Able to follow public health orders as required to access public pools and events
Roles and Responsibilities
• Develop and implement artistic swimming training plans
• Choreograph and teach artistic swimming routines and figures
• Supervise and mentor club coaches – provide regular opportunities for feedback and growth, including regularly scheduled coaches’ meetings
• Monitor and develop all athletes, in collaboration with their coaches
• Communicate with the volunteer board and club members, provide regular feedback to the board on training needs and program operations
• Work in combination with the board for club planning
• Attend all competitions and provide coaching as required
• Provide in-person/on-deck coaching of athletes at weekly practices
• Communicate with BCAS and CAS as needed
• Support team-related fundraisers and activities
• Participate in mentorship opportunities as available
Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience managing individual differences and group dynamics
• Ability to exercise sound judgement, observe confidentiality, demonstrate discretion and initiative
• Artistic ability to create routine choreography for performances at meets and watershows
